What is Surrey Connect?
How does it work?
Surrey Connect's grade 8 - 12 online courses use an online learning management system called WebCT. You can interact with content, an online teacher and other students through user-friendly communications and navigation tools. You will have more control of the time, place, and pace of your learning. In other words, you can choose to learn at any time of day, from any computer and can proceed through the curriculum at any rate you want. All you need is a computer with a high-speed internet connection.
Is an online course the same as a course offered in a "brick and mortar" school?
Yes. Our secondary (grades 8-12) courses fulfill the BC Ministry of Education graduation requirements.
I don't live in Surrey; can I still take courses at Surrey Connect?
Anyone can take courses at Surrey Connect. However, to take the grade 10, 11 and 12 courses for free you need to live in BC.
What courses are offered?
We offer over 100 full-credit courses. Here are just some high school courses we offer: Math, Science, Spanish, Information Technology, Guitar, French, Business, Art, Animation, Photography, Film & TV, Marketing, English, Communications, Piano, Punjabi, Law, PE and more! Click here for a listing of all available courses.
I'm already at a high school, but can I still take courses at Surrey Connect?
Yes. Students in Grade 10, 11 or 12 may be cross-enrolled (attending another Secondary school in BC at the same time they take an online course with Surrey Connect). See our website for more details.
When can I start?
Anytime you want. Our courses are continuous entry. Register today and get started right away.
How long can I take to finish the course?
Students in Grade 10, 11 and 12 courses have 12 months to finish the course; however, you must stay active in the courses each week. Some students complete courses in one month, others take six or seven months depending on work schedules and individual circumstances. Grade 8 and Grade 9 students must complete their courses by early June of the school year.
